ACCIDENT FATAL TO PARMA GIRL
Phyllis Transue Dies from
Injuries Sustained When Car Turns Over Near Caldwell
|
Phyllis Transue, 19 - year - old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Transue of Parma, died last
evening from injuries which she received in an automobile
accident Thursday afternoon. The girl,
riding in the rumble seat of a car driven by her father
sustained chest injuries when the automobile turned over after
leaving the highway on the eastern outskirts of Caldwell.
Loses Control Cause of the accident was
attributed to a sudden heart attack suffered by Mr. Transue.
He lost control of the car, it left the highway and turned
over at least once. Riding with Mr.
Transue in the coupe was Mrs. Transue with their son between
them. Phyllis and a younger sister, whose name was not
learned, were riding in the rumble seat.
Fire Starts After the
car turned over, fire started near the gas tank, apparently
the result of a short in the tail-light circuit. It was
quickly put out, however, by highway workers who were marking
the street with a colored center line near the scene.
Passersby stopped to pick up the injured and take them to the
hospital. Dr. G. W. Montgomery, who attended the family,
said that only Phyllis had sustained serious injuries.
The family was returning to Caldwell after an afternoon spent
at the Nazarene college in Nampa where Phyllis went to
investigate enrollment at the Nazarene college. She had
previously indicated that she would enroll as a freshman at
the College of Idaho. The body is at
Peckham's Funeral services had not been arranged this
afternoon. |
