Merl Pfeifer

     Merl F. Pfeifer, 73, of Caldwell, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 1996, at home.  Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday Sept. 25, 1996, at Parma Cemetery.  Rev. Don Hardenbrook of the Oregon Trail Church of God will officiate.  Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
    Merl was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to Floyd and Clara Case Pfeifer. He came to Idaho with his family as a small boy, settling in Caldwell.  He married Darlene Jarvis Sanders in 1949.  He worked in stock yards around the Treasure Valley for a while and then he started his own house-moving business in 1953.
    Mules were his hobby and he participated in numerous parades and fairs around Idaho.
     Survivors include 4 sons, Kenneth Pfeifer and his wife, Kris of Nampa, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pfeifer of Calif., John Pfeifer and his wife, Bonnie of Caldwell, and Bob Pfeifer of Caldwell; one daughter, Penny Barrett of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Clarence Pfeifer of Fruitland, Idaho; two sisters, Leona Hall of Middleton, and Velma Deines of Weiser; 9 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
