Ludwig Philipps

     Rosary for Ludwig M. Philipps, 99, of Nampa, who died Wednesday, March 4, at a Nampa care center, will be recited today at 6:30 p.m. at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church by Fr. Merle J. Fisher, S.M.  Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa,
    Mr. Philipps was born Oct. 1, 1887, at Winona, Minn., to Ludwig and Maria Koenig Philipps.  He was reared and educated in Winona.  In 1912, he moved to Conrad, Mont., where he homesteaded.
    He married Rose Hoffman June 17, 1920, in Winona and they farmed near Conrad.  He retired in 1947 and they moved to Great Falls, Mont.  In 1952, they moved to Nampa.
    Mrs. Philipps. died April 12, 1979, and he had resided in Nampa since.
    He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa.
    He is survived by a brother, Leo A. Philipps of Conrad, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters and a son, Gilbert, who was killed in a farming accident.
