Dies in Homedale
After Long Illness

    Services will be held Tuesday for Albert Vernon Townsend at 2:30 p.m. in the Peckham-Dakan chapel.
    Mr. Townsend, 75, died in his home in Homedale Saturday after a long illness.  He was born in Silver City in 1875, his parents being among the earliest settlers in that community.  He was a lifelong resident of Owyhee county.
    Townsend was one of the first freight drivers to enter Silver City during its boom days.  He held the post of county commissioner of Owyhee county for the last four years until illness made necessary his resignation from that office.
    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Henderson Townsend of Homedale; two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Grete of Caldwell, Mrs. Alice Johnson, Robertson, Wyoming, and a brother, Harry Townsend of Homedale; three daughters, Mrs. George Thomas, Mrs. Max Millsbaugh and Mrs. Charlotte Kershner, all of Homedale; five sons, John of Hagerman, Claud of Twin Falls, Ralph of Bend, Everett of Flint Creek and Darley of Homedale.
    He also is survived by 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
    Rev. Harold N. Nye of the First Methodist church in Caldwell, will officiate, and  interment will take place at Wilder cemetery.
