WALLA, Wash (AP) - Mrs. Altha E. Fouch, 69, of Boise,
secretary-librarian of the Idaho state historical society and
a pioneer of the west, died here suddenly last night.
Mrs. Fouch was traveling from Lewiston, Idaho, to Hun tington,
Ore., with her son, Dr. Ralph Fouch, when she was suddenly
stricken with a heart attack.

The body will be taken to
Parma, Idaho, for funeral services.
Mrs.
Fouch was appointed secretary-librarian of the Idaho State
Historical Society by Governor C. Ben Ross in 1931.
She left Boise several days ago to visit a daughter, Mrs.
James Lyle at Kendrick, Idaho, and went from there to
Lewiston.
Mrs. Fouchwas born in
Knoxville, Iowa, Dec. 30, 1868, and came with her parents to
Eagle, Idaho, in 1887 in a wagon-train that set out from
Kelton, Utah.
Moved to Parma
Later
the family move to Parma, where Mrs. Fouch spent most of her
life.
Her husband, Frank R. Fouch, died
at Parma in 1930.
She was a member of
the Presbyterian church.
Besides her
son, Dr. Fouch and daughter, Mrs. Lyle, she is survived by two
other daughters, Mrs. Mark Bower of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs.
George Westfall of Boise and a son, Clare Fouch of Tulsa,
Okla. |
