Vernon Parker
    Services for Vernon E. Parker. 71, of Adrian, who died Sunday, May 10, in a Nyssa hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Roswell Presbyterian Church.
    The Rev. John Pickrell will officiate, under the direction of Nyssa's Lienkaemper Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Roswell Cemetery.
    Mr. Parker was born Aug. 8, 1915, at Big Bend, Ore., to Ernest and Myrtle Watson Parker.  He attended grade school at Wade School, and graduated from Nyssa High School in 1934.
    He married Georgia Toomb July 19, 1935, at Caldwell, and they settled in Adrian.  He served for six months in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  Following his discharge, he returned to Adrian where he managed the Van Patten Lumber Co. until 1966.  At that time, he bought the lumber company and named it Parker Lumber and Hardware.  He sold out in January 1979, at which time he retired.  He had since resided in Adrian. 
    He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Adrian, the Adrian Lions Club, and served on the Adrian City Council for 12 years.
    He is survived by his wife of Adrian; two sons, Robert Parker of LaGrande, Ore., and Paul Parker of  Ontario, Ore.; three daughters, Janet Eason of Homedale, Marilyn Ramsdell of Battle Mountain, Nev., and Pamela Payne of Nampa; a sister, Pamela Payne of Nampa;
a sister, Iola Mendenhall of Caldwell; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers.
    Memorials may be made to the Adrian United Presbyterian Church.
    Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nyssa's Lienkaemper Chapel.
