Theresa Morel was
born March 18, 1922, in Damar,
Kansas, to Xavier and Rosa Arpin,
the ninth of 11 children.
She was raised and attended school in Damar, Kansas.
She served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II
and was stationed in
San Diego,
California.
After the war she returned to Damar and married
Edmond Adrian "Pete" Morel of Falco, Kansas,
on March 30, 1948.
To this union four children were born.
Ed and Theresa
Morel farmed in Kansas until 1970, when they sold the farm and moved their
family to Idaho.
They lived in the Dixie and Ten Davis communities
near Parma until 1974, when
they bought and settled on a small farm in
Apple Valley, north of
Parma, where they had since resided.
Theresa was a
faithful and loving wife — an excellent homemaker and the
best mother to her children.
She was a strong, faithful Christian and devoted
member of the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Parma, Idaho.
She enjoyed camping and fishing in the Idaho mountains with her
husband, family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening,
baking and canning.
She loved sewing, crocheting and reading, but she especially
loved her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to house and garden work, she was an
excellent assistant to her husband Ed's carpenter and craft
work. Theresa will
be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived
by two sons, Don and Marcia Morel of Pocatello, Idaho, and
Ken Morel of Parma, Idaho; two daughters, Marcia and Bob
Hopkins Jr. of Parma, Idaho, and Donna, and Richard Mendel
of Summerville, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Amy and Matthew
Morel , Brian, Carrie, and Eddy Hopkins, Seth Mendel, and
Katie Houghton; three brothers, Lawrence and Dorothy Arpin
of Moses Lake, Washington, Arthur and Elsie Arpin of Hays,
Kansas, and Alfred and Marcella Arpin of Damar, Kansas; and
three sisters, Duetta LaPlante of independence, Missouri,
Mary Berland of Damar, Kansas, and Virginia and Ronald
Thyfault of Damar, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Morel, her parents,
and four brothers.
Her family suggests that memorials be sent to the
American Heart Association, or flowers may be sent.
