Rachel Myers
Services for Rachel E. • Myers, 78, of Caldwell,
Route 6. who died Thursday, Jan. 6 at a Caldwell hospital,
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenleaf Friends
Church by the Rev. Paul Goins of the Greenleaf Friends
Church, the Rev. Ramero Reyes of the Spanish Iglesia
Evangela Church, Wilder and the Rev. Arthold Latham of
Greenleaf. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf
Cemetery under the direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell. She was born June 3, 1904
at Elsie, Neb. and moved with her family at the age of six
to Melba where they homesteaded. She attended schools
in Melba and finished her junior and senior years of high
school at Greenleaf Friends Academy, graduating in 1923.
She married Arthur R. Myers in Greenleaf on Jan. 5, 1924 and
they have farmed near Greenleaf for the past 58 years.
She was a member of the Greenleaf Friends Church, the
Womens' Missionary Union, was involved with mission work,
and working with migrant farm workers and their families in
Marsing, Homedale, Wilder and Greenleaf areas. She was
the hostess of the Good News Club for many years, a member
of the Greenleaf Riding Club, and active in various other
church functions over the past years including the Bible
Memory Organization. She is survived
by her husband, Arthur of Caldwell, a son, the Rev. Leroy V.
Myers of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; three daughters,
Edith Pinto of Spokane, Wa., Dorothy Teter of Baker. Ore.
and Rosa Zavala of El Centro, Calif. a brother, James Selby,
of Greenleaf, a sister, Bertha M. Smith of Caldwell; 18
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,
two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at the Flahiff Chapel, Caldwell, Monday
from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 11
a.m.
