son of Cyriel K. and Marie Van Steenkesta Ostyn. While
growing up he worked on the family farm on 12th Ave. Road.
He attended Bennett School then Nampa High, and married his
high school sweetheart, Wilma Woods in 1942 in Nampa a year
before serving 3 years in W.W. II as an engineer on LST 399
on the South Pacific Front. After the war he attended
business school in Boise. Ray was a building
contractor in the Treasure Valley since 1956, and was noted
for his fine quality construction. Ray
and Wilma enjoyed RV travel with his son and
daughter-in-law, Darrell and Maureen for many years.
Ray semi retired at age 55 and fully retired at age 59 after
buying part of the Earl Jones Ranch in Donnelly, Idaho, with
his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Marcia. He
enjoyed his half mile of "elbow room" on the Gold Fork River
and delighted in hiking, fishing and dirt biking with his
children and grandchildren even until the last few months of
his life. In 1960 Ray and Wilma
adopted Marie and Jeannie, ages 4 and 5, in Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada. Ray and Wilma spent many years of
weekends at "the place" in Donnelly and also explored the
West Coast Beaches during their vacations. After
raising the children, Ray and Wilma cherished their 11 years
"going south," RVing together in the winter months.
Ray was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Maureen Ostyn and Mike and
