R.D. Neff Jr.
Rosary of R.D. Neff, Jr., 67, of 224 20th Ave. S. Nampa, who
died Thursday, May 31, in a Nampa hospital, will be recited
at 8 p.m. today, June 3, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Monday, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nampa, by the Rev.
James L. Pratt. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary
Cemetery. Mr. Neff was born April 9,
1917, at Thomas, Okla., to Ross Dale and Elsie Goodman Neff.
He moved with his family to Nampa where he was reared and
educated. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the
European Theater and was a master sergeant in the 183rd
Field Artillery Group until receiving a battle field
commission as a second lieutenant. He was a spotter
plane pilot for his artillery unit and won the Distinguished
Flying Cross with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal
with three oak leaf clusters, and the
European-African-Middle East Theater ribbon with four bronze
stars. He married Phyllis Gallegos
Dec. 31. 1943, at Pacifico. Calif., and after his discharge
they returned to Nampa where he has since resided. He
was manager of the Pre-Pak Division of Armour Meat Company
in Nampa until retiring in 1968. He is
survived by his wife of Nampa; two sons, Ron Neff and Barry
Neff, both of Nampa; one daughter, LaValle Frisk, Payette;
two brothers, Bill Neff and Joe Neff, both of Nampa; one
sister, Nadine Brown, Nampa; six grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother and his step-father.
Memorials may be made to the Idaho Heart Fund, to the
Shriners' Crippled Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City,
Utah, or flowers may be sent. Friends
may call at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa today from 1
p.m. until 9 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday.
