Funeral services for Plen
E. Nickel, 81, of Caldwell, who died Tuesday, December 1,
1992, at his home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
December 4, 1992, at the First United Methodist Church,
Middleton. Pastor Lura Kidner-Miesen will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Middleton Cemetery, under the
direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Nickel was born March 26, 1911, at Inman, Nebraska, a
son of Wesley and Lena Conard. He was reared and
educated in the Inman and Page, Nebraska, area. At the
age of 13, he was adopted by John Nickel. He married
Eva G. Ulry on May 22, 1934, at the Methodist Parsonage in
Stuart, Nebraska. He farmed in Nebraska for 20 years
and moved to Idaho in 1950. He worked at the
Dairyman's Co-op and did custom combine work until retiring
in 1965. Later he worked for the Nishioka Farms and
for the USDA as a potato inspector for the state of Idaho
from 1978 until 1991. Plen was a
member of the Methodist Church. He is
survived by his wife, Eva of Caldwell; a son and
daughter-in-law, Wesley and Betty Nickel of Clearfield,
Utah; a brother, Austin Nickel of Cald-well; 8
grandchildren,; 17 great-grandchildren; a
great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son,
Franklin; three sisters; a grandson, Calvin Nickel; and a
great-granddaughter, Stephanie Nickel. Memorials may
be given to the First United Methodist Church, Middleton, or
to the Hospice program at West Valley Medical Center, 1717
Arlington Ave., Caldwell, Idaho 83605.
Friends may call Thursday from 1 until 8 p.m. at the Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
