Manuel Nieto
Manuel M. Nieto, age 74, of Nampa, died Monday, March. 3,
1997, at the Nampa hospital. A Rosary service will be
held at 7 p.m. tonight at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Nampa. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday,
March 7, 1997 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa.
Father Carlos Perez will officiate with burial to follow at
Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
He was
born September 10, 1922, in Karnes City, Texas, the son of
Refugio and Margarita M. Nieto. He was raised and educated
in Karnes City, Texas. Manuel joined the Army in 1943
and fought in World War II. He was stationed in
Northern France, Normandy, Rhineland, Central Europe and
Germany. In 1945 he was honorably discharged, and
retired to Karnes City where he built his home for him, his
mother and his brothers. He later met and married
Elisa "Alice" Gonzales on December 22, 1947. In 1967
Manuel and Elisa moved, along with their nine children, to
Nampa, where they have since resided. He worked for
Delbert Moore Farms for approximately 2 years. In 1969
he went to work for Restline products, now known as
Homestyle Industries, as a furniture framer. Due to
illness in 1979 he was forced into an early retirement. .
God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, So
he put his arms around him, and whispered "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer, and saw him fade
away, Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him
stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working
hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only
takes the best.
He is survived by his
wife, Elisa G. Nieto, of Nampa; four sons Servando and Tami
Nieto Samuel Nieto, Sr., Samuel Nieto Jr., all of Nampa.,
Robert and Yolanda Nieto of West Liberty, Iowa; five
daughters, Yolanda and Jesus Contreras, Martha N. and John
Mora, Mary Jane Schmidt, Helena and Jerry Dalton, all of
Nampa, Hope and Joe Garcie of Houston, Texas; a niece,
Delfina Rodriques, a nephew Jose Gamboa all of Carnes City,
Texas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Morales of San Antonio,
Texas; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Ernesto, both his
parents and two brothers.
A Tribute
to a Great Man:
Our grandfather was a
great man who was always true to his word. He never
turned his back on anyone, even when trouble was stirred.
Grandpa knew everyone loved him be-cause of the love he
showed to us. I'll never forget the things he taught
me, this you can trust. Grandpa had many experiences,
some were good, some were bad. But, when looked
into his eyes, it would remind me that he's the best think
I've ever had. A man with his sense of humor is very
hard to find. This, along with everything else made
him one of a kind. You cannot find a more fair man
within a million miles, the proof to this is to simply say
his name; then you can judge from all the smiles.
Grandpa, we miss you so very much. You'll never know
how dearly we'll miss your tender touch.
