Memorial services
for Marion E. Mills, 83, Wilder Route 1, who died Thursday,
March 29, at a Homedale nursing home, will be conducted at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Rev. Nixon
Knight of Caldwell will officiate.
Rites will be recited by the Ruby Rebekahs and Beulah
Chapter #75, Order of the Eastern Star, both of Wilder.
She was born Aug.
2, 1900 at Marion, S.D.,
to Edwin and Katherine Naftzger Karn.
She spent her early childhood at
Jearvis,
Ore., and moved to the Wilder area
with her family when she was 11.
She was a member of the first graduating class of
Wilder
High School in 1919 and attended Oregon State
University at Corvallis, Ore.
She married
Willard E. Mills on Oct. 28, 1921 at her parents home in
Wilder. They farmed
in the Wilder area for many years.
Marion was the oldest
living member of the
Golden Gate Baptist Church at Wilder and served the church in
many areas. She was
primary superintendent for years and was active in the
Ladies BWMS.
She was also a vital part of Eastern Star, Rebekahs, Jobs
Daughters and the Fargo Ladies Club.
She held most offices in the Order of the Eastern
Star and was worthy matron three different times and served
as a grand representative twice.
She was guardian of the Job's Daughters in Wilder
numerous times and served on the councils.
Her full-time occupation was her family.
She was the wife
of Willard Mills of Wilder, mother of three sons and their
wives, Lewis and Trulah Mills, Emmett, Zim and Maizie Mills
and Rollin and Audrene Mills, all of Boise: and three
daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jack Coles, Parma,
Margaret and Dwayne Wilton, Marsing, and Carol and Elden
Leavitt, Meridian; and sister of Eddie Karn, Boise and
Catherine Hetrick, Wilder.
She had 25 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, two brothers, Jim and Chuck Karn;
three sisters, Nellie Briggs, Elizabeth Batt and Hattie
Vance; and a son, Roy Mills.
The family
suggests memorials may be made to the Shriners' Crippled
Children's Hospital, Portland;
in care of El Korah Shrine Temple, 1118 W. Idaho, Boise, 83707, or a charity of choice.
