Kenneth Nielson
Services for Kenneth Lee Nielson, 72, Middleton, who died
Wednesday, April 23, at his home, will be conducted at 10:30
a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Middleton.
The Rev. Mark Johnson, pastor of the church, and the Rev.
Charles Jackson of the Middleton Church of the Nazarene will
officiate. Interment will follow at Middleton Cemetery
under the direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Nielson was born May 14, 1913, on
the family homestead at Mt. Carroll, Ill., where he was
reared and educated. He graduated from Blackburn
College at Carlinville, Ill., and in 1938 moved with his
family to Oregon. During World War II,
he served with the U.S. Army in the 11th Armored Division,
and following the war, he returned to reside in New Plymouth
until moving to the Middleton area in the early 1950s where
he has since resided. He was a
.farmer and dairyman and in 1977 received the Senior
Holstein Breeder Award from the Idaho Holstein Association.
He would have been recognized as a 40-year member of the
Holstein Association of America this year.
He was a member of the Middleton First United Methodist
Church, the Middleton Senior Citizens, was present master of
Middleton Grange 6, a member of Canyon County Pomona Grange
4, the Idaho State Grange and enjoyed camping at the
Southwestern Idaho Senior Citizens Recreational Area at
Cascade. He is survived by his
mother, Mary Nielson of Middleton; a brother, DeWitt Nielson
of Colville, Wash.; two sisters, Dorothy Toepfer of Mt.
Carroll, Ill., and Beverly Funk of Las Vegas, Nev.; four
nieces, two nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his natural mother, Mattie
Penhollow Nielson in 1916, his father, Ralph V. Nielson in
1970, and a nephew. Friends may call
Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
