Jose Menchaca

    Jose Menchaca, 73, of Nampa, left us on Thursday, June 5, 1997, at a Nampa hospital to be with our father in heaven.  Vigil services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 1997, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa, with the Rev. Father Carlos Perez, of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
    Jose was born on Nov. 23, 1923, in Piedias Negras, Mexico, a son of Idelfonso and Julia Moncada Menchaca,  He was educated in eagle Pass, Texas.  He joined the Army during WWII and worked as an ambulance driver.  Jose married Casimira Hernandez on March 18, 1949, in Eagle Pass, Texas.  They moved to Nampa in 1970.
    He survived by his wife Casimira, of Nampa; two sons, Henry Menchaca and his wife Gloria; Manuel Menchaca and his fiancee Lori Deakins, all of Nampa; nine grandchildren, Lisa Gallegos, Joe Menchaca, Melisa Farias, Rachel Vicente, Victoria Menchaca, Henry Menchaca, Jr., Maribel Menchaca, Joseph Menchaca, Raul Menchaca; fifteen great-grandchildren, several brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by parents Julia and Idelfonso Menchaca, three nephews Juan Torres, Louie "Pollito" Cepeda, and Jesse "Kiko" lbarra.
