John Murphy
Services for John R. Murphy, 84, of
Nampa, and formerly of
Caldwell, who died Saturday, Jan. 17, in a Caldwell nursing home, will
be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of
Nampa.
The Rev. Merle J.
Fisher, S.M., of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa, will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary
Cemetery, Nampa.
Mr. Murphy, a
retired farmer, was born Feb. 5, 1902, in
Saline County, Mo., to John and Nancy Lee Murphy.
He was reared and educated there.
He went to Nebraska, where he worked on the railroad and
farmed for a time.
He returned to Missouri to farm.
He married Betty
Fitzgerald June 22, 1923, in
Marshall, Mo.
They moved to Idaho in 1944
and farmed in the Lone Star community west of
Nampa.
They moved to Caldwell in 1977.
Mrs. Murphy died
June 23, 1980.
He moved to the
Heritage
Retirement
Center,
Nampa, in March
1986.
He was a member
of the Catholic church in both Caldwell
and Nampa.
He is survived by
nieces and nephews Lloyd and Betty Jo Murphy of Caldwell,
Dale and Marjorie Murphy of Nampa, George and Virginia Medek
of Boise, Judy Medek of Nampa and Richard and Betty Bishop
of Hawthorne, Nev.; a sister-in-law, Cecilia Medek of Nampa;
and several nieces and nephews in Missouri.
He was preceded
in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be
made to St. Paul's Catholic
Church, Nampa;
to a favorite charity; or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call
Tuesday and Wednesday at the Nampa Flahiff chapel.
