Julia
Montgomery
Services for Julia H. Montgomery, 89, of
Boise and formerly of Melba, who died on
Wednesday, March 19, in a Boise
nursing home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the
Alsip Funeral Chapel,
Nampa.
The Rev. Leo W.
Reed, pastor of the Nampa First Baptist Church,
will officiate with burial to follow at the Melba Cemetery.
Mrs.
Montgomery was born on Feb. 9, 1897, at
De Witt, Ark., where she was reared and educated.
She married
Daniel Paul Montgomery on July 18, 1917, at De Witt.
They lived in
Detroit for 10
years prior to moving to Melba in 1928.
She worked as a
postal clerk at the Melba Post Office for 22 years.
While living in
Melba, she was active in community affairs, an honorary
member of the Melba P.T.A. and served as the first president
of the P.T.A. She
also served as a member of the school board and was a member
of the Rebekah Lodge.
Her husband died in December of 1966.
In 1967 she moved
to Nampa
and then to Boise
in 1982. She
was a member of the am a First
Baptist
Church.
She is
survived-by a son, Ray "Buck" Montgomery of Aurora, Colo.;
twin daughters, Helen L. Snyder of Portland, Ore., and Hazel
L. O'Gorman of Lompoc, Calif.; four sisters, Dewey Johnson
of De Witt, Leta Hopper of Florida, Lucille Holtz of
Honolulu, Hawaii, and Sally Reed of De Witt; 10
grandchildren, among which are Mike Bernard of Boise, and
Antionette Kloch of Eugene, Ore.; and 16
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise, two
sisters and five brothers.
Friends may call
at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today from 5 to 9 p.m. and on
Friday from 8 to 10 a.m.
