Harriet Packwood
Services for Harriet Ellen Packwood, 74, of Parma Route 2,
who died Saturday, Nov. 12, at the home of her daughter in
Parma from natural causes, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at the Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church,
Roswell, by the Rev. Dean Lantz, associate pastor.
Interment will follow at the Parma Cemetery under the
direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
She was born Nov. 1, 1909, at Pleasanton, Neb., to Frank and
Isabelle Schwasinger. At the age of 5, she moved with
her family to Nampa, where she was reared and attended
schools. She married Carl Packwood on Dec. 12, 1928, at
Nampa. They made their home at Caldwell until 1952,
when they moved to Arena Valley near Roswell.
They farmed there for several years, during which she worked
for a time at the J. R. Simplot Company at Caldwell.
They moed to Parma in 1971, and later to the Parma Senior
Citizens complex. Her husband died in July of 1982.
She had since resided at Parma. She
was a member of the Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church, the
Roswell Women's Association, the Arena Valley Circle and the
Parma Senior Citizens. She is
survived by two daughters, Wilma Perecz and Frances Transue,
both of Parma; four brothers, Lawrence Schwasinger and
Willard Schwasinger, both of Nampa; Melvin Schwasinger of
Boise, Ronald Schwasinger of Fruitland; four sisters, Grace
Betts and Faye Ferguson, both of Nampa, Louise Callison of
Salem, Ore., and Naomi Lantz of York, Pa.; nine
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five nieces, seven
nephews. She was preceded in death by
her husband, a daughter, her parents, a brother and a
sister. Memorials may be made to the
Sterry Memoiral Presbyterian Church, Parma, or the Parma
Senior Citizens. Friends may call at
the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Parma, on Wednesday from 7 to 9
p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.
