Ferdinand Mordhorst
    Ferdinand David Mordhorst, 97, of Notus, died Friday, June 17, 1994, at a Caldwell care center.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 1994, at the Lower Boise Cemetery, near Notus.  Rev. Tim Wells, pastor of the Notus First Church will officiate.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Ferdinand D. Mordhorst was born on October 7, 1896, at Wheatland, Iowa, to Charles and Caroline Kuehl Mordhorst.  He was reared and educated in Wheatland.  He married Bertie Sleeper in 1918 in Nebraska.  Following their marriage, they farmed in Pierce County, Nebraska.  In 1930 they moved to Notus.  He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for a few years.  He later went to work for the Black Canyon Irrigation District.  He retired in 1961 and they resided in Notus.  Bertie passed away in 1971. In January of 1990 he moved to Nampa to live with his son Robert and his family.
    He was a member Of the Notus First Baptist Church.
    Ferdinand is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Alice Mordhorst, Notus, Gerald and Geraldine Mordhorst, Boulder, Colorado, Rev. Robert and Gayle Mordhorst, Nampa; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and Lynn Cox, Carmel, California, Nancy and Rev. Robert Obenchain, Notus; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
    Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, 9 brothers and sisters.
