HOMEPAGE

Edgar Moore

Edgar O. "Ed" Moore, 66, of Caldwell, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 7, 1993, at the Caldwell hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 12, 1993, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Pastor Zip Zediker of Memorial Park Baptist Church will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Wilder Cemetery.
Ed was born April 5, 1927, at Concordia, Kansas, the son of David and Vera Moore.  As a farm boy in Kansas, Ed found the name and address of a young girl written on a prune basket lid.  It was through the correspondence that he initiated that he met his future wife, Donna Mercer in Idaho.  After three years of correspondence, they met and a year later, on May 8, 1949, at Wilder, Idaho, they became one in a garden wedding ceremony.
When Ed came to Idaho, he also developed a love affair for mountains the first time he saw them.  The love affair with Donna and the mountains continued for the next 44 years until the time of his death.
After their marriage, he and Donna lived in Kansas for 10 years where Ed worked as a ranch hand and mechanic.  In 1959, Ed, Donna and their three daughters moved to Idaho where he worked as a mechanic and partsman for various John Deere farm equipment dealerships.  In 1986, Ed was forced to retire due to ill health.
Ed loved the mountains and spent many enjoyable times camping with his family beside a mountain stream, hunting with his buddies, riding motor bikes over mountain trails in the summer and snowmobiles over those same trails in the winter.  In later years, due to his health, Ed was not able to pursue these interests, but his heart never left the mountains he loved.
Ed had a good sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes on his family and friends.  He had a self-taught knowledge of mechanics and over the years had earned a reputation of excellent work and fair treatment.  His friends knew him as being honest, dependable and always willing to lend a hand.
Ed is survived by his wife, Donna of Caldwell; his daughters, Janet Moore of Lewiston, Barbara Williams and her husband, Paul of Tucson, AZ, and Debbie Curwick and her husband, Dave of Anacortes, Washington; three grandsons, Tim, David and Chris; three granddaughters, Gina, Jennifer and Melissa; his mother, Vera Moore of Eureka, Kansas; a sister, Nancy and her husband, John Beitz of Eureka, Kansas; a cousin, Lucile Tarr of Wilder; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1986.
Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
