Graveside
services for Dave M. Matthews Jr., 60, of
Caldwell. who died Friday, Oct. 19,
at a Nampa hospital of
natural causes, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Roswell Cemetery,
Roswel. The
Rev. John Sinclair of the Caldwell First Christian Church
will officiate, under the direction of the Dakan Funeral
Chapel of Caldwell.
Mr. Matthews was born Sept. 30, 1924, at
Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of Dave and Gladys Matthews.
He was reared and
educated in his early life at
Berryville, Ark. He
had later lived in various parts of
California,
Idaho and Oregon,
and settled in
Adrian, Ore., in 1938.
He married Cecil
Myra Case on Sept. 24. 1946, at
Nampa.
They continued to
make their home at Adrian.
He retired in 1960,
for health reasons. In
1965 he graduated from Treasure Valley
Community College at Ontario, with a degree in medical technology.
In 1973, they moved
to Caldwell where they had since resided.
He was a co-owner of
Big Sky Maps and had recently completed an
Idaho
state map under the name Bear Paw Map.
He is survived by
his wife of Caldwell; four daughters, Nonie Kerttula of
Ontario, and Jean Raganit, Lynda Jenkins, and Becky
Froemming, all of Caldwell; one brother, Bob Matthews of
McMinnville, Ore.; one sister, Edith Kressly of Ontario; a
stepfather, E. R. Magden of Payette; three granddaughters,
and one grandson. He
was preceded in death by a son, his mother and father, and
two brothers.
