Clarence Merrill

    PARMA - Funeral services for Clarence F. Merrill, 63, Box 428, Parma, who died Sunday at an Ontario hospital, will be conducted at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in Parma at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
    Officiating will be the Rev. Wayne Wardwell of Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church. Parma Lodge No. 49, AF&AM, will conduct interment at Parma.
    Mr. Merrill was born Sept. 4, 1910, in Denver and moved with his parents to Rosemead, Calif., in 1926.  He graduated from El Monte, Calif., High School in 1930.  He married Kathleen Spencer April 8, 1934 in Yuma, Ariz., and worked in machine shops in the Los Angeles area.  He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II, and the family moved to Parma in 1947 where he operated Merrill's Machine Shop.  He taught a welding class at Parma High School in the vocational education program for two years.
    He was a member of Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Parma Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Korah Temple of the Shrine, both of Boise, the Parma Caravaners, the National and Idaho Wildlife Federations, the Parma Rod and Gun Club, where he served as president for several years, and the National Rifle Association He was Explorer Scout Post No. 215 adviser from 1956 to 1964.
    Survivors, in addition to his widow, are a son, John Merrill, Las Vegas; a daughter, Mrs. Ivan (Wilmina) Phelps, Donnelly; his mother, Mrs. Edith Merrill, Rosemead; a brother; Roy Merrill, Big Bear Lake, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Cleo) Brown, Rosemead, and Mrs. Roy (Edith) Thomas, South San Gabriel, Calif., and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.
