Clara Obendorf
Graveside services for Clara E. Obendorf, 94, of Caldwell,
who died of natural causes Friday, Oct. 17, at a Caldwell
nursing home, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
Roswell Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. David
Quail, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Caldwell, with
services under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell. Mrs. Obendorf was born Oct.
21, 1891, at Bartonville, Ill., a daughter of Phillip and
Lucy Hamil Schraub. She attended school until the
fifth grade at which time her mother died and she was needed
at home to care for her brothers and sisters. At an
early age, she went to work at a department store as a shoe
clerk. She married Lewis Lockridge in
January 1910. He died in 1913. She then married
Paul Obendorf in January 1918, and they moved to Idaho where
they homesteaded 100 acres. They moved off the farm in 1955
to Middleton, and then to Caldwell in 1958. Paul
Obendorf died in 1961. In 1964, she
married Fred Obendorf and they lived at Nampa.
Fred Obendorf died in 1968. She continued to live in
Nampa, gardening and making quilts for her grandchildren and
church bazaars. In 1980, she sold her home and moved
to Greenleaf. In October 1983 she moved to Caldwell to
live with her daughter, Doris Kindall. While there,
she sometimes attended the Oregon Trail Church of God.
In April 1984, following accidental falls, she entered the
Caldwell Care Center where she had since resided.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wilson and
Rose Lockridge of Nampa; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris
and Bennie Kindall of Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law,
Irma and Orville Cox of Caldwell; nine grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her husbands, a son, Glen, and several
brothers and sisters. Friends may
call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dakan Funeral Chapel
in Caldwell. Memorials may be made to
the bell fund at Grace Lutheran Church, Caldwell, or to the
Oregon Trail Church of God, Caldwell.
