Albert Oglevie
Albert E. Oglevie, 95, of Nampa, died Saturday morning,
February 20, 1993, at his home in Nampa. Funeral
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 23,
1993, at the Greenleaf Friends Church, Greenleaf.
Pastors Kenneth Pitts of the Greenleaf Friends Church and
Stephen Oglevie of the Rupert Church of the Nazarene will
officiate. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf
Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Oglevie
was born November 30, 1897, near Northbranch in Jewell
County, Kansas, the son of John and Jessie Oglevie. He
graduated from Northbranch Friends Academy in 1918 and then
attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, for two
years. On March 30, 1921, he married Frances Jones at
Northbrarich. Five children were born to them, Agnes,
Dean, Velma (who died at birth), Arlene and Lewis.
They farmed near Northbranch for fifteen years. During
the Depression he also taught school for seven of these
years. In 1935, the family moved to a farm near
Greenleaf, Idaho, to enroll their children in Greenleaf
Academy for their education. Mr. Oglevie later worked
for the Caldwell News-Tribune as circulation
manager for twenty-two years. He and his wife,
Frances, have made their home at the Surmyridge Retirement
Center in Nampa for the past thirteen years.
Mr. Oglevie was always active in schools and the Greenleaf
Friends Church. He served as chairman of the
Northbranch Academy Board and after his retirement from the
Caldwell News Tribune, he served as treasurer for the
Greenleaf Friends Church for ten years.
Surviving are his wife, Frances; two sons, Dean Oglevie and
his wife, Charlotte of Post Falls, Idaho, and Lewis Oglevie
and his wife. Sherrill of Colorado Springs, Co.; two
daughters, Agnes Tish and her husband, Alva of Greenleaf,
and Arlene Richardson and her husband, John of Seattle, Wa.;
fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
His family suggests that those
wishing to send memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, do
so to the Greenleaf Friends Academy.
Friends may call at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell
from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
