Robert S. "Bob" McArthur, 81, of Nampa, died Tuesday, March 12, 1996, at home.  Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15.  Rev. Thomas Larson will officiate with graveside Masonic Rite services following at 4 p.m. at the Wilder Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Robert was born March 30, 1914, on his father's homestead one mile South of Greenleaf, ID, a son of Ward Duncan McArthur and Geneva Myrtle Bullock.  At age six he moved with his family to Central Cove Community where he finished grammar school.  He attended two years at John Marshal Junior High in Pasadena, CA, spent his junior year at Boise High, and graduated from Wilder High School in 1933.
Bob spent the winter of 1933-34 in C. C. Camp at Riggins, ID.  He then met Martha Ulrich in Central Cove and they were married December 9, 1935, at the Baptist parsonage in Weiser.  They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on December 9, 1995.
Bob worked five years on the railroad during WWII and spent most of his life in farm equipment sales in Canyon and Owyhee counties.  Bob and Martha returned to Wilder in 1955 where Bob served on the City Council.  They retired to Nampa in 1975.  Throughout most of their married life they were active members of the Methodist Church.
Bob was very active in the Masonic Lodge, York and Scottish Rite Bodies, Cryptic Masons, Knights Templar, Eastern Star and Royal Arch Masons.  He served as Worshipful Master of Silver City Lodge and Grand Historian for Grand Lodge.  Bob received the Bronze Medal for Meritorious Service from the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in 1988.  He also received honorary degrees for Knights Templar — the Red Cross of Constantine and in the Royal Order of Scotland.
Bob and Martha had four children, three daughters, Alta Staley of Tempe, AZ, Lucile who lives with her husband Bill Leavell in Boise, Margaret Dodson also of Boise; and a son, Robert Andrew who lives with his wife Conni in Kuna.  They were also blessed with ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.  Bob is survived by two brothers, Floyd and his wife Frances of Boise, Jean and his wife Grace of Earp, CA.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linna.
Bob was a loving husband, father and brother who will be greatly missed by his family and the communities he served.
Memorials may given to a favorite charity, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Hospice, or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until noon Friday at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel.
