Duane Henry McCracken, 73, of Middleton, died Friday, Feb.
11, 1994, at the Idaho State Veteran's Home following an
extended illness. Funeral
services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1994, at
the First United
Methodist
Church, Middleton, with the Rev.
Lura Kidner-Miesen officiating.
Burial will follow
at the Middleton Cemetery.
Duane was born April 8, 1920, to William Henry and
Lida Mae Hockett McCracken at Haworth, Kansas.
He grew up and
received his education in Republic and
Washington Counties,
Kansas.
He served his
country in World War II, stationed in
Pocatello and Boise,
Idaho, at Gowen Field, and Bari, Italy,
overseas reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Air
Force.
He married Hazel E. Roe on Sept. 8, 1947, in
Belleville, Kansas. To
this union was born a daughter and a son.
His love for
Idaho
never left him and in 1956 the family moved to
Idaho Falls,
Idaho, from Belleville. He
loved to fish and be in the outdoors camping and gardening.
He
was employed by the city of Idaho Falls as a Heating
Inspector until failing health forced his early retirement
in 1973. In 1987 he moved to
Middleton, Idaho.
He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars
Caldwell, Post #3886.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Middleton; a
daughter and son-in-law, Karen Jane and Randell E. Brown of Idaho Falls; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Joe and
Debra Annette McCracken, of Idaho Falls;
a brother, Wendell Edward McCracken of Middleton; a sister,
Ruth Maxine Kaufman of
Belleville, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Idaho State Veterans Home, 320
Collins Road, Boise, Idaho, or the First United Methodist
Church, 104 E. Main, Middleton, Idaho 83644.
