Vera Long

    Services for Vera D. Long, 84, of 404 20th Ave. S., Nampa, who died Monday, Jan. 16, at a Nampa nursing home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    The Rev. Leo W. Reed, pastor of the Nampa First Baptist Church, will officiate.  Private family interment will follow in Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.
    Mrs. Long was born Feb. 21, 1899, at Arkansas City, Kan., to Jesse and Anna Long.  At an early age she moved to New York with her family.  After living in several states, she continued her education and moved to Nampa in 1923.  She worked for the Bon Ton Bakery in Nampa for several years and also was a clerk at the Falks I.D. Store.
    She later went to work at the Nampa Public Library, where she was librarian for 32 years.  After her retirement she made her home in Nampa and also traveled throughout the country.  She had been a member of the Nampa Women's Century Club and the National Librarian Association.
    She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clinton (Thelma) Bentley, Nampa; and one sister-in-law, Helen Long, Nampa.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Nampa Public Library, a favorite charity, or flowers may be sent.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
