Ray Lewis Services
for Ray Oliver Lewis, 88, of Burley and formerly of
Caldwell, who died Tuesday, Dec. 3, in
Burley, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Burley
First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. David Henry will officiate.
Graveside services
will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the
Lower Boise Cemetery
near Parma.
Mr. Lewis, a
former Canyon County
commissioner, was born June 2, 1905, in Notus, where he was
reared and educated.
He worked for the
highway district and as a state patrolman for several years.
He served in the U.S.
Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He had worked for J.
R. Simplot Co. in Burley until his retirement in 1970.
He married Susie
McCloud Coleman Dec. 27, 1955, in
Lewiston.
The couple made their
home in Burley for 28 years.
He was a member of
the Presbyterian Church, the Burley-Rupert Knife and Fork
Club, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by
his wife of Burley: two sons, Harold Lewis of
Caldwell and Earl Lewis of
Sebastapol, Calif.;
a daughter, Marilyn Kreiman of Caldwell;
two stepsons, Archie Stradley of Caldwell
and Lonnie Stradley of Portland,
Ore.; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Storm of
Yakima,
Wash.; and several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and
sisters.
