Rosary devotions
for Marguerite "Lolly" Lawlis, 85, Nampa,
who died Friday, July 27, in her home, will be recited at 7
p.m. Monday in the Alsip Funeral Chapel,
Nampa.
Mass of the
Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in
St. Paul's Catholic Church,
Nampa, with the Rev. Merle J. Fisher,
S.M., officiating. Interment
will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery,
Nampa.
Mrs. Lawlis was
born Feb. 17, 1899, in
Periguex, France.
She was reared and
educated in France.
She met Howard
Lawlis in France
during World War I when he was a soldier and she was working
as a French nurse employed by the American army.
They were married
May 3, 1919, in
Bordeaux,
France.
They celebrated
their 65th wedding anniversary this year.
They returned to the United States
in 1919 and settled in the Reynolds Creek area.
In 1937 they moved
to Nampa where she worked for the Golden Rule
Store and the Idaho Department Store for 38 years.
She was a member
of the St. Paul's Catholic Church
where she sang in the church choir for 43 years.
She also sang for
the Majors and Minors for several yeas.
She is survived
by her husband of Nampa; one son and daughter-in-law, David
and Evelyn Lawlis of Concord, Calif.; one daughter and
son-in-law, Mary and Ed Thiel of Kuna; a daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Clara Lawlis of
Nampa; 13 grandchildren; arid 19
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, George R. Lawlis,
an infant son, Charles, a grandson, Ron Thiel, and a
great-grandson, Kreig Harris.
