Rosary for
Lawrence V. Klas, 84, of 404 Horton St.,
Nampa, who died Thursday, May 3, at
a Nampa
nursing home, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Flahiff
Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at
St. Paul's Catholic Church by the
Rev. James L. Pratt, S.M. Interment
will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery,
Nampa.
Mr. Klas was born
Aug. 21, 1899, in Humphrey, Neb.,
a son of Peter and Barbara Thille Klas.
At age 12, he moved
with his family to
Burke,
S.D., where he completed his
education and graduated from high school.
He married Leona
Hotz June 21, 1922, in Burke, and they farmed in that area
and other communities of South Dakota
until moving to
Nampa
in 1943 where he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad.
He later farmed for
several years and then worked for Idaho Animal Products.
He was an active
member of St. Paul's Catholic Church
and of the Knights of Columbus of St. Paul's parish.
He is survived by
his wife of the Nampa Care Center; five children, Walter
Klas, Castro Valley, Calif., Thelma Kappelman, Nampa,
Loraine Baumgart, Des Moines, Iowa, Virginia Fehringer,
Boring, Ore., LeRoy Klas, St. Johns, Newfoundland; two
sisters, Irene Bohnet, Spokane, Wash., Margaret O'Leary,
Longmont, Colo.; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, three brothers and one grandson.
Pallbearers
will be grandsons John Kappelman, Jim Kappelman, Steve
Kappelman, Russell Fehringer, David Fehringer, Richard
Fehringer, Ronald Fehringer, Bill Klas, Chuck Baumgart,
Chris Baumgart, Mike Klas and Matt Klas.
Memorials may be
made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute,
Boise, the American Heart Association
or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of
Nampa until tonight 9 on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and
until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
