Lena C. Knutson, 82, of Nampa,
died Thursday, in a
Caldwell
care center of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January
20, 1997, in the Alden-Waggoner Chapel.
Pastor Venture Coy,
a family member, will officiate.
Graveside services
will follow at 12 p.m. in the Parma Cemetery,
Parma.
Lena was born on September 22, 1914, in
Ripley, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oatis and Fern
Skinner Nugent. She
moved with her family at a very early age to the
Twin Falls area where her family
farmed. They came to
the Treasure
Valley in 1926, settling in the Parma area.
In 1936,
Lena
married Don McFarland and they lived in Stibnite where he
worked in the mine, and later in Kellogg and Wallace, where
he also worked in the mines.
In 1946 they moved their family to Payette, where
Mr. McFarland ran a milk route.
They were later
divorced and she moved the family to Caldwell, in 1953.
She was a single
parent raising her family alone, so she went to work as a
meat wrapper for the Safeway Foods Store in Caldwell.
In 1958 Lena married
Robert Knutson and they continued to reside in
Nampa.
They enjoyed
traveling very much. They
also were later divorced.
She is survived by her children, Jerry McFarland and his
wife Ann, of Meridian, Bruce McFarland Sr., and Joyce
Mallea, both of Nampa; two step-daughters, Roberta Eldridge
and her husband, Dave, and Mary Houston; her brothers and
sisters, Audrey Sparks and her husband Ray, Geneath Sparks,
Ellen Codr and her husband Tom, Betty Lawrence and her
husband Roy, Joanne Burley and her husband Roger, Keith
Nugent and his wife Birtie, Gale Nugent and his wife Janie,
Lyle Nugent and his wife Dorothy, and Lillian Kline;
thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Opal
Meeder.
