John G. Lyda

    NAMPA — Funeral services for John G. Lyda, 73, 503 Stanford St., who died Monday at a Nampa hospital following a brief illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
    The Rev. Raymond Bean of the First Church of Christ, Meridian, will officiate.  Interment will be at Kohlerlawn, Cemetery.
    Mr. Lyda was born March 6, 1902 at Hendersonville, N.C., and was reared near there.  He moved to Nampa with his parents when he was 14 years of age and has resided in this area since.  He married Mabel Harrison Aug. 16, 1924, at Caldwell and they made their home in Ada, Owyhee and Canyon counties.  Mrs. Lyda preceded him in death April 6, 1972.
    He was a member of the Nampa Friends Church, a member of the Nampa Valley Grange: a member of Nampa Lodge No. 40, I.O.O. F., and a member of the Boise Valley Singing Convention.
    He is survived by three sons, Lloyd S. Lyda, Medford. Ore., Paul A. Lyda, Westfir, Ore., and John D. Lyda, Newberg, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Goldie Cline, Bakersfield, Calif., and Mrs. Iverna Lair, Hershey, Pa.; one brother, Tallie Lyda, Aumsville, Ore.; one sister, Ida Lyda, Nampa; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, six brothers and three sisters.
