Carl
Robert "Cub" Klahr, 63, of Caldwell, died Thursday,
July 5, 1990, at home of natural causes.
Funeral services will
be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the
Caldwell
Free
Methodist
Church, 3320 S. Montana Ave, Caldwell. The
Rev. Allen Nelson of the Caldwell Free
Methodist
Church
will officiate. Burial
will follow in the Roswell
Cemetery,
Roswell.
Services are under the
direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell,
Mr.
Klahr was born Aug. 6, 1926, at Parma, Idaho,
the son of George Erwin and Nora Thurman Matthews Klahr, where
he was reared and educated. He
married Louise Hinton on Nov. 5, 1944, at
Caldwell.
Mr. Klahr was a veteran of World War II, serving in the
6th Rangers in the Philippines
and drove a staff car during the occupation of Japan.
He was a lifetime
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was appointed to
the Idaho Horse Racing Commission by Gov. Samuelson.
He served as an
honorary security guard during Spiro Agnew's visit to
Boise.
He was past president and honorary member of the
Caldwell Night Rodeo Board and past vice-president of the
Idaho Thoroughbred Breeder's Association.
He was a member of the
Caldwell Elk's Lodge No. 1448 and was active with the March Of
Dimes drive, Little League Baseball, received an honorary FFA
award and many other awards for his active participation in
community endeavors.
Survivors include his wife, Louise of Caldwell; a son
and his wife, Lon and Bev Klahr of Caldwell; four brothers,
Harry and his wife, Lorraine Klahr, Elmer and his wife, Olive
Klahr, Charles and his wife, Anna Klahr, all of Caldwell, and
James and his wife, Bonnie Klahr of Parma:, two sisters; Ruby
and her husband, Tom Reese of Caldwell and Nola and her
husband, Lester Yeakel of Parma; a granddaughter, Kim Klahr of
Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.
He
was proceded (sic) in death by his parents, a twin brother,
Clarence, a brother, Earl, and a sister, Pearl Bloyd.
