Services for Blake J. Lowell, 81, Parma Route 3, who died
Thursday, Jan. 20, in a Caldwell
hospital of natural causes will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Monday at the Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church,
Roswell, by Rev. William C. Wartes.
Interment will be at
the Roswell
Cemetery under the
direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
He
was born June 16, 1901 at Roswell to James Harrison
and Florence Lowell. He
attended school at Roswell
until the family moved to Caldwell in 1917.
He continued his
education at the Kimball Union
Academy at Meriden, New Hampshire.
In 1924 he graduated
from the College of Idaho
and continued his graduate studies at the University of Iowa.
He was athletic
director and coach for 2 years in Wallace and later athletic
director at Caldwell High School.
In
1929 he married Helen Turner.
They came to Roswell the same year where they have since
resided. He was
engaged in fruit growing and general farming until his
retirement a few years ago.
He was active in community work, serving for many
years on the school board. He
had been involved in reclamation projects, youth
organizations and church activities.
He was a member of
the Parma Masonic Lodge No. 49 A.F. and AM., Scottish Rite
Bodies, and the El Korah Shrine.
He
is survived by his wife of Roswell, a son, David, of
Wichita, Kansas, and a daughter, Sara, of Medford, Ore.; two
brothers, Douglas Lowell of Lincoln City, Ore, and Edwin
(Josh) Lowell of Caldwell; three grandchildren and seven
nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Lowell,
The family suggests memorials be made to Sterry Memorial
Church, the Mountain States Tumor Institute or the Shriner's
Crippled Children's Hospital, Salt Lake City, in care of
Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1386, Caldwell, 83605.
Friends may call at the chapel in Caldwell from 4 to 8 p.m.
Sunday.
