Services for
Aletha H. Levanger, 91, Homedale, who died Monday, June 27,
at a Caldwell
hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Homedale by Bishop
Steven J. Carson of the Homedale First Ward.
Interment will
follow at the Wilder
Cemetery, under the direction of
the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
She was born Jan.
11, 1892, at Glendale, Utah,
to Joseph and Abigail Brimhall Hopkins.
She was reared and
educated in
Glendale. In 1910, she attended the
Murdock Academy in Beaver, Utah, for a year.
She married John
F. Levanger in Salt Lake City May 22,
1912. They served a
mission in St. George, Utah,
for two years. They
returned to Glendale where they lived
until 1938, when they moved to Homedale.
They farmed for
several years and moved into town in 1943, where they have
since resided. He
died in June of 1972.
She was a member of the Homedale First Ward LDS Church,
and was active as a Sunday school teacher, a stake
missionary for several years, a visiting teacher and in the
Relief Society Presidency.
She is survived
by three sons, Ray and Bernard Levanger of Homedale, and
Ross Levanger of Ontario; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Blake of
Burley, and Mrs. Delma Carson of Homedale; two sisters,
Lydia Snow of St. George, Utah, and Hazel McMullen of
Snowflake, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren,
and two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a brother, three
sisters and three grandchildren.
Friends may call
at the chapel today from 3 until 8 p.m.; Thursday from 9
a.m. until 8 p.m.; and Friday at the church from 1 until
1:50 p.m.
