Pete Blanksma,
86, passed away Wednesday Feb. 22, 2006 at his home in Melba.
Funeral services were held Monday Feb. 27, 2006 in the Melba Friends
Church, 301 Randolph Ave.
Pastor Chris Hinderliter officiated. Interment followed in the Melba
Cemetery.
Pete was
born Oct. 1, 1919 in Boise, Idaho.
At the age of five he move to Melba where he grew up and
graduated from Melba High. Pete served in the Army during WWII
and received a good conduct medal, a victory medal, an Asiatic
Pacific service medal and an Army of occupation medal (Japan).
He married Vera Cullum on July 17, 1951 in Eagle, Idaho. They moved to Melba and began Dairy
Farming. Pete retired in 1984 from farming.
Pete is
survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Vera Blanksma, their
two daughters, Mary Taggart and her husband Mark and their
children: Justin, Cody and Brianna of Nampa; Nancy Pond and
her husband Rob and their son Kealen of Meridian;
granddaughter AJ Mumau and father Tom Bicak; one sister
Margaret Walker of Glenns Ferry and many nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his
parents Dave and Jennie Blanksma, a daughter Martha Mumau,
sisters Anna Young and Irene Chastain.
In lieu
of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be
made to the Melba
Friends Church,
the Melba Quick Response or to the
Melba
Valley Senior
