Doris was born September 6, 1917 at Arena Valley near Wilder, Idaho, the daughter of Gottfrid and Ingrid Johanson. After graduating from Parma High School, Doris worked at Idaho First Bank. She married Frank T. Bartles April 18, 1936 at Parma. In 1938 they settled on a farm in the Arena Valley area where they lived for 60 years. Because of illness they moved to Karcher Estates where Doris lived for eleven and a half years. Frank died July 31, 1998. She and Frank enjoyed the Idaho Mountains and salmon fishing in Washington. They loved to travel visiting most of the U.S., Australia, much of Europe and several times to Sweden to visit relatives. Doris was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and the Arena Valley Circle.
Doris is survived by her children, Arlene (Jerry) Hamby, Parma, and Dale (Julia) Bartles, Boise; 8 grandchildren, Gary and Carol Bartles, Wilder, Rob Bartles, Wilder, Debbie and Ed Leavitt, Wilder, Mike and Shelley Hamby, Parma, Renee Hamby, Caldwell, Lisa and Jeff Itano, Parma, Delora and Charlie Shoop, Moscow, and Randy and Lisa Cornwell, Beaverton, OR.; and 16 great grandchildren.
