The sad news of the death of Mr.
Solomon Bodle, who died Tuesday morning, September 1st., about
one o'clock, was quite a shock to relatives and friends, being
sick only a few hours. He was born in Minisink, Orange
County, N. Y., May 14 1930, being 84 years, 3 weeks and 17
days of age at the time of death. Spending his childhood
days in the state of New York and Pennsylvania, moving to
Wisconsin when about 18 years of age, then move to Minnesota,
where he was married to Miss Lydia Bryant. He was a
veteran of the Civil war, enlisting in Company K, 2 Minnesota
Calvary as a private November 7, 1863. After receiving
his discharge he remained in Minnesota until the year 1878,
when moving with his family to western Kansas, there taking a
homestead and going through all the hardships of a new
country. His wife dying the following year, leaving
seven little children. He fought bravely the struggle of
both father and mother, keeping his family together until
grown. Then moving from Kansas with his two sons to
Caldwell, Idaho, three years ago. He leaves behind six
sons, Frank, in Wisconsin, Grant and Ernest in Nebraska, Artie
in Oklahoma, Otho in Kansas, William and Jay in Caldwell.
Also four grandchildren in Idaho. One brother in
California, a brother and sister in Wisconsin, to mourn his
departure. |
