Services Held Wednesday for
Mrs. May Garlick
Funeral services were
held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7, at 2 o'clock at the
Peckham-Dakan-Davis chapel, Caldwell, for Mrs. May Garlick,
84, who died on Saturday, Aug. 3, at a Caldwell nursing home.
Rev. A. E. Gilbert, pastor of Wilder Methodist church,
officiated. Interment was in Wilder cemetery.
Mrs. Garlick was born February 16, 1879, in Livingston county,
Illinois. She married B. E. Garlick on March 18, 1895, at
Aberdeen, So. Dakota. They came by covered wagon to Boise in
1900 and later moved to Parma. In 1905 they homesteaded
northwest of Wilder where they continued to live and raise
their family. In 1942, Mr. and Mrs. Garlick moved to Caldwell
where they made their home until their death. Mr. Garlick died
in 1948. Mrs. Garlick had been in ill health for the past
several years and had been confined to her bed since July 5
when she broke her right hip in a fall.
Mrs. Garlick was very active in community affairs at Wilder.
She was a member of the Wilder Methodist church and Charity
Rebeka lodge no. 75. Surviving are six
daughters, Mrs. Gladys Allison, Wilder; Mrs. Evelyn Walker,
Payette; Mrs. Freda Hunt, Caldwell; Mrs. Edna Bishop, Wilder;
Mrs. Wilma Benham and Mrs. Betty Schroeder, Meridian; two
sisters, Mrs. Leola King, Salem, Oregon and Mrs. Edith Shelvin,
Aberdeen, So. Dakota; 11 grandchildren and 20 great
grandchildren. |
