Greenleaf Woman Is
Called to Great Beyond

Death Ends Long Career
Following Joyous Day

     Funeral services were held Friday morning at Greenleaf for Mrs. William Richards who died September 3 at the age of 69 years. The Rev. Ezra Pearson conducted the services. Of her, friends have written;
    Josephine Mendenhall was born in Hendricks county, Indiana, Feb. 20, 1853. When fifteen years of age she, with her parents, brothers and sisters removed to Iowa, going by wagon train.
    "She was converted in 1871 when eighteen years of age. On August 29, 1872 she was married to William Richmond Williams. After their marriage they continued to reside in Iowa until 1908 when they moved to Idaho in which state they have since made their home with the exception of three years 1910-1912 which were spent in California and Iowa.
    "Both have from childhood been members of the Friend's church and even when in feeble health have been faithful in attending the meetings for worship. Our sister shared with others sympathetically the burdens which rested upon them and not only prayed for them herself but asked others to unite with her in prayer.
    "The children are Theodore Leetus Williams, now residing near Greenleaf, Idaho; Elmina Williams Strother whose home is at Elma, Iowa; Floyd Wendell Williams living near Greenleaf, Idaho, Luella Williams, deceased, and Ledru Williams living at Weiser, Idaho.
    "On the 29th day of August last the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of William Richmond and Josephine Q. Williams was celebrated at their home. It was a joyful day to them, their children, grandchildren other relatives and friends when they met and shared together the memories of half a century of happy home life. To those who love the Lord even such an occasion as this is not complete unless His presence is recognized, and His goodness commemorated. So upon that day songs of praise and words of prayer and thanksgiving mingled with the converse of loving friendship and fellowship.
    "When the golden wedding was made on the previous Sabbath little did any of us think that one week from that day would be the time of the bride's home going to be forever with her Lord.  But so it was that on Sept. 3, 1922, she passed away, age 69 years 6 months and 14 days.
    "On that morning she seemed unusually well and happy.  She made preparation to attend the church services and was engaged in cheerful conversation as they drove to the church.  Not until her husband went to help her from the carriage had she expressed an sensation of suffering.  Then suddenly she spoke of not feeling well and believed they should return home.  In a few moments she was unconscious and was taken to the home of Isaiah Williams and died four hours later, so unexpectedly that we can hardly realize that we shall never greet her again until we meet in the glory land.  In the sense of our own loss many friends will tenderly sympathize with the bereave husband and family circle.
