ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES   

      George Melford Lindsay, who was born December 27, 1852, at Plato, Kane county, Illinois, died at Wilder on Friday, September 24, his age being 84 years, nine months and 27 days.
    At the age of three years he moved with his family to Waupaw county, Wisconsin, where he spent the early part of his life. At the age of 23 he moved to Guthrie county, Iowa, where he resided until 1903. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Thierman on February 22, 1876, at Menlo, Iowa. To this union was born six children.
    Still pioneering, he pushed farther west to Dewey county, Oklahoma, where he spent 17 years. In the fall of 1919 he came to Wilder, where he spent the remainder of his life, surrounded by his family and many friends.
    Mr. Lindsay leaves to mourn his loss three daughters, Clara D. Zornes of Nipoma, California; Fannie E. Morford of Parma; and Ferne M. Cassell, an adopted daughter, of Phoenix, Arizona; and one son, Allen E. Lindsay of Wilder. He is also survived by three brothers, Milan S. Lindsay of Priest River, Idaho; Willard F. of Nampa; and Wallace T. of Fort Jones, California. In addition he leaves 23 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
    Deceased always led an upright Christian life and during his residence at Menlo he was superintendent of the Sunday school for a period of two years.
