Graveside services for Walter
Stuthelt, 79, of Portland, formerly of Homedale, who died
Tuesday, Sept, 18, in a Portland hospital, will be conducted
at in a.m. Saturday at the Wilder Cemetery.
The Rev. Grant Francis of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church,
Homedale will officiate under the direction of Flahiff Funeral
Chapel, Homedale. He was born July 2,
1905, in Chase County, Neb. He was reared and educated
in Nebraska. He moved to Portland in 1923. On Feb.
21, 1926, he married Eva Pierce at Raymond, Wash. He
worked as a barber in Washington. The couple later moved
to Parma, where they lived for several years before moving to
Homedale in 1937. In 1941, they moved to Portland where
he worked in the shipyards during World War II. After
the war, he returned to barbering work. In 1963, they
moved to Seaview, Wash., where they lived for 17 years.
He retired in 1981, and they returned to Portland.
Mrs. Stutheit died May 28, 1984, in Portland.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Long Beach,
Wash., Grange for 17 years. He is
survived by a son, Donald Stutheit of Albany, Ore., three
daughters, Peggy Stumpf of Portland, Eileen Kennedy of
Gresham, Ore., and Veletta Collins of Homedale; a sister,
Pearl Mattison of LaGrande, Ore.; 14 grandchildren, 17
great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Flahiff Chapel in Homedale Friday from
5 until 9 p.m. |
