Tommy Rayne was born on
December 23, 1930 to Pearl and Ansel Rayne in Caldwell, Idaho.
He attended grade school in Caldwell and graduated from
Middleton High School in the class of 1948. Tommy was the
first country music disc jockey at KCID in Caldwell Idaho,
known as " The Mournful Tommy Rayne or Barefoot Tommy Rayne.
Tommy was a well known member of the String Busters Band. The
String Busters had the first live television show that
broadcasted weekly throughout the valley. "Always A Good Time!
With Idaho's Most Popular Western Dance Band! " We will always
remember how each episode started with an image of Tommy
riding his upright bass. Tommy's life and upbringing was
surrounded by music that was passed down from his brother
Bill. Tommy's legacy of music was then passed down to his
children, grandchildren and great-grand children. Anyone who
knew Tommy knew that music was a big part of his life which
will continue to be a big part of any of his family
gatherings. Tommy was a Brand Inspector
for ten years. He continued with his love of horses by joining
his lifelong friend Gary Seal and starting their adventure in
Rayne & Seal Enterprises. He was later joined in this
adventure by his brother Jerry and they became quite well
known for their Horse Trading, Indian Rodeos and later for
their Lumber investments with their older brother Bob. Tommy
and Bobbi spent his later years on a small farm in Canyon
County enjoying their families and animals.
Tommy married Lois Gibson and they had four children Steve,
Pam, Annette and Sherry. Tommy later married Bobbi Hartman who
had two daughters Shelli and Sherri.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Ansel and Pearl.
His first wife Lois. His daughter Pam, his sisters, June,
Ellen, and Shirley, his brothers Billy, Jimmy and Jerry.
Tommy is survived by his wife Bobbi. Children Steve Rayne,
Annette Hart, Sherry Young, Shelli West, Sherri Hart. Siblings
Ardith Tepfer, Ted Rayne, Marilynn (Hittie) Young, Cheryl
(Dude) Williams and Sandy Watson. Grandkids, Colin Martin,
Dennis Martin, Angela Hart, Shelli Wright, Kim Young, Bart
Rayne, Julie Hart, Kelli Shippy, Jenny McKarcher, Nathan Ward,
and Laura West. Seventeen
Great-Grandchildren, One Great-Great Grandchild, numerous
nieces and nephews and more friends than anyone could count.
Tommy always had a great outlook on life, we will never forget
his voice when he was talking or laughing. It was always full
of confidence and would bring comfort to everyone. He had a
way of making everyone feel special and loved. He was country,
before country was "cool". Funeral
services for Tommy will be held at Dakan Funeral Chapel in
Caldwell at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5th. Interment will
follow at the Middleton Cemetery. |
