Opal Christina Stevens, 88, of Caldwell, died
Thursday, June 26, 1997, at a Nampa care center.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July
1, 1997, at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Bishop
David Root of the Caldwell 6th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints will officiate.
Family and friends are asked , to meet at the cemetery.
Mrs. Stevens was born May 10, 1909, at Cambridge, a daughter
of Bert and Nettie Boyles Wells. She moved with her
family at the age of ten to the Caldwell area and attended
school in the Midway and Marble Front communities. She
married R.C. Stevens in 1925 and they were later divorced.
Opal retired from the J. R. Simplot Company and enjoyed
traveling, yard sales and especially spending time with her
grandchildren. Surviving are three
sons, Jerry Stevens of Lyle, WA; Ron and his wife, Barb of
Boise, and Roger of Spokane, WA; a daughter and her husband,
Jeannie and Ray Newland of Nampa; 10 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and one
nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, a
brother, an infant daughter and a daughter-in-law, Hazel
Stevens. Friends may call Monday from 1 p.m. until 8
p.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. The family
wishes to express their thanks to the caring staff of Midland
