Roy Strode

     Roy Strode, 94 of Caldwell, died Tuesday, November 12, 1996, at a Caldwell care center.  Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 15, 1996, at the Parma Cemetery under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with rites by Caldwell Elks Lodge #1448.
    Mr. Strode was born December 19, 1901, at Nampa, Idaho, the son of LeRoy and Nellie Smith Strode.  At the age of five he moved with his parents to Rockville, Oregon, where he ranched as an adult.  He married Mary McConnell December 21, 1926, in Boise.  They came to Caldwell in 1935 where he operated an apartment house.  In 1948 he moved to Middleton where he operated a grocery store for several years and later moved to Parma in 1953 where he was employed as a plumber.  Mr. Strode returned to Caldwell in 1991 where he has since made his home with his daughter and son-in-law.
    He was a member of Senior Citizens in several communities and was also a member of the Caldwell Elks Lodge.
    Surviving are his daughter, Sophia Strode Scott and her husband, Raleigh of Caldwell; a brother, Ross Strode of Fairborn, Ohio; a grandson, Anthony Griffel; two step-grandsons, Mike of Caldwell and Greg of Seattle; two brothers-in-law, Elmer McConnell, of Caldwell and Robert McConnell, of Caldwell.
    He was preceded in death by his two wives, Mary and Gladys, three brothers and a son, Tom R. Strode.
   His family suggests that memorials be made to any community's Senior Citizens Center.
    Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
