Fern Sutton, 98, of Nampa. died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, at a
Nampa care center. Vigil services were held at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Persons-Flahiff
Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Fr. James Rodenspiel of the
Catholic Church at Chubbuck, Id. officiated. Burial will
follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
Fern was born July 20, 1898, at Hominy, Oklahoma, a daughter
of John M. and DeeBell Peek Jones. She was reared and
educated at Hominy, and later moved to central Oregon where
she met and married Elbert George. They were later
divorced. Fern moved to Nampa in 1933. She married
Oliver William Sutton on July 16, 1935, at Richland, Wash.
During the depression years she worked in a restaurant and
later went through L.P.N. training at Mercy Hospital and
worked in several Boise Valley hospitals and nursing homes.
Fern enjoyed china painting. She
was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Altar
Society. Survivors include a son, Duane
A. Sutton of Syracuse, NY; a daughter, Mildred VanDewiele of
Hillsboro, OR; two step-daughters, Ruth Polinsky of Pocatello,
ID, and Betty Johnson of Homedale; numerous grandchildren,
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Oliver W. who died July 9, 1975, a son
Neal George, five brothers, and one sister.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Memorial Fund, Nampa, or
flowers may be sent. |
