Vernon V. Snyder

     Vernon V. Snyder, 74, of Greenleaf, passed away at his home September 7, 1994.  Services will be held at the Greenleaf Friends Church, Monday, September 1, at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Dorwin Smith officiating. Concluding services will be held at the Greenleaf Cemetery.
    Vernon was born February 17, 1920, at Allen, Nebraska to Rodney and Elsie (Emry) Snyder.  He was reared and attended schools in Northeastern Nebraska.  He graduated from Allen High School in 1938.  He married Margaret N. Smith September 7, 1938, at South Sioux City, Nebraska.  They farmed in Nebraska until 1950 when they moved to Greenleaf, Idaho.  Vernon was employed for Sears and Roe-buck in Caldwell from 1951-1970.  He owned and operated Greenleaf Pack and Freeze from 1968-1973.  In 1975 he worked for Greenleaf Supply until his retirement in 1983.
    He was an active member of Springbank Friends Church while living in Nebraska, and Greenleaf Friends Church where he served in many different capacities.  He was active in the Greenleaf City Council where he served both as councilman and mayor.  He was currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Greenleaf Water Association, a position he had filled for many years.  He was a supporter of Greenleaf Friends Academy where all four of his children and several of his grandchildren attended.  He was also a member of the Caldwell Chapter of the Gideon International Society.
    He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Greenleaf, two daughters Mrs. Merlin (Viola Mae) Roberts, Mrs. Patricia Birch, both of Greenleaf; two sons Daniel Snyder of Greenleaf and Herald Snyder of Whittier, California; brother William Snyder of Allen, Nebraska, and a sister, Mrs. Walden (Carolyn) Kraemer of Wakefield, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; two great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 1994.  Flowers may be sent or memorials made to Greenleaf Friends Academy or the Gideon International.
