Mary T. Sommer, R.N., 66, of Boise, passed away at home after
a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial mass will be
held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at St. Paul's Catholic Church,
Nampa, with the Rev. Father Paul Mathews, S.M., presiding.
Cremation is under the direction of Persons-Flahiff Funeral
Chapel, Nampa. Mary was born Nov. 17,
1928, in Wendell, a daughter of Casper and Monica Frei Sommer.
She was a graduate of Meridian High School and St. Alphonsus
School of Nursing. Mary was a world traveler having
worked in West Pakistan, Ponape and Zaire where she was
nursing director for Morrison-Knudsen Co. Following her
return in 1981 she worked at M-K headquarters until her
retirement in 1989. She is survived by
three brothers, Casper Sommer of Port Angeles, Wash., Robert
Sommer of Nampa, and Leo Sommer of Smith Valley, Nev.; five
sisters, Christine Klotz of Portland, Ore., Wilma Sprute of
Dallas, Ore., Rita Larson of Phoenix, Ariz., Irene Bridges of
Stella, No. Carolina, Dorothy Giffen of Stanley; and numerous
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents. The family
suggests that memorials be made to Horizon Hospices, 1406 E.
First St. Suite 116, Meridian, Idaho 83642 or MSTI, St. Luke's
