Goldie B. "Marie" Slonecker, 72,
formerly of Nampa, passed away in Sacramento, California on
May 11, 1994. Graveside Inurnment Services will be held
at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 18, at Melba Community Cemetery,
with Pastor Chuck Haskins of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene
officiating. Services are under the direction of Alsip
Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Goldie was born
August 1921 in Wellfleet, Nebraska, daughter of Harry and Zula
Mooney. She was reared and educated in Nebraska.
She joined her sister in Melba in 1945. She married John
D. "Hike" Slonecker on September 3, 1947. They moved to
Nampa where they made their family home.
Goldie was a housewife and mother for many years. She
also worked a number of years at Midland Care Center in Nampa
at the Idaho State School and Hospital until her retirement.
Goldie was a loving and giving
individual to her family and friends. She enjoyed being
a member of TOPS for many years. Family and friends who
knew her enjoyed her gift of poetry. One of her life
wishes was realized when she made a trip with friends to
Hawaii. She moved to Sacramento, Calitornia in 1987 where she
was a foster grandparent to children with multiple handicaps.
She was nominated as foster grandparent for the state of
California. She is survived by her 5
children and their spouses, Chuck and Lorraine Florom of
Sacramento, California, Patricia and William Hill of Marsing,
John D. Slonecker of Sacramento, California, Daniel and
Diannalyn Slonecker of Nampa and James and Andra Slonecker of
Nampa. A sister Oleta Ball of Melba, and a brother Ed
Mooney of Seattle, Washington, 24 grand-children and 9
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her husband, 1 son, and 2 brothers and 2
sisters. |
