Etha R. Spillman, 82 of Cald-well,
died Monday, May 7, 1990, at her home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. The Rev. Harry L. Granger of
the First Baptist Church, Emmett, will offtciate.
Interment will follow at the Middleton Cemetery, with rites by
the Pansy Rebekah Lodge #37, Middleton.
Mrs. Spillman was born March 12, 1908, at Elgin, Neb., the
daughter of Charles and Olive Anderson Wilton. She
graduated from the Emmett High School and attended the College
of Idaho when she was 16 years old and began teaching school
at the age of 18. She later attended Redlands University
in California for a year and then returned to teaching.
She taught school at Sweet, Emmett, Middleton and Bonners
Ferry, Idaho. She married R. Lynn Spillman, July 20,
1935, at Elgin, Neb. They made their home at Middleton
at the end of World War II. They later moved to
Virginia, after the Korean War, where Mr. Spillman was
stationed in the U.S. Army. They lived there for two and a
half years. Following Mr. Spillman's retirement from the
Army, they returned to Middleton and later moved to Caldwell
where they have since resided. Mrs.
Spillman enjoyed playing bridge and reading and had also been
a volunteer teacher with the Marsing Job Corp. She was a
member of the Pansy Rebekah lodge #37, Middleton.
Mrs. Spillman is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. R. Lynn
Spillman (Retired) of Caldwell; a daughter and son in law,
Arlynn and Richard Maggard of Rupert; two sisters, Delia Swan
of Emmett and Wanda Smith of Glendale, Calif.; four
grandchildren, Richard L. and Scott Maggard and Melanki Holmes
and Nicole Maggard and three great-granddaughters.
Her family suggests that memorials be made to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society of Idaho, 6716 Fairview Ave., Boise, Idaho
83704. Friends may call at the Dakan
Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday. |
